WASHINGTON (ChurchMilitant.com) – Archbishop Carlo Maria Viganò is setting the record straight regarding a controversial meeting between Pope Francis and Kim Davis in 2015.
Davis, a marriage clerk in Rowan County, Kentucky, became something of a conservative folk hero when she was jailed for refusing to issue same-sex wedding licenses. Her cause was bolstered after reports surfaced in October that she had had a private meeting with Pope Francis during his visit to Washington, D.C., where he gave her two Rosaries and offered her encouraging words of support.
